Sankofa YAA
Designed and partially named after the a most valued Ghanaian traditional Adikra symbol, Sankofa, Sankofa Yaa displays front and center the Sankofa bird itself looking back with an egg in its beak.
"Sankofa" in Akan language translates "go back and take"
The Sankofa Symbol stands for the belief in going back for our most cherished and valued traditions and heritage and bringing it with us into the future. Hence the bird looking back while holding an egg which stands for new birth.
"Yaa" Is the birth name of all females born on Thursdays. My mom is Yaa. I selected Yaa of all the names in the week given to honor her
