Sacred Guilt
May I never rest
To be the achiever I want to be,
To be a fore runner in my generation
I need to work hard
I want to give my all everyday
I want to give my very best each day
Hard work makes me free
Of the guilt that envelops me when I tarry
When you want to reach your utmost potential
When I want to reach the potential
I have to work everyday like I have a deadline the next
To get the knowledge I need to be mighty,
I need to study like I have exams tomorrow
To push myself when there is no grade to be made
Or deadlines to be met
I need to be driven beyond the normal
I need to be self-motivated
Strong-willed
Human as I am
I need a helper;
Guilt of the lazy
Oh Sacred guilt that keeps me on my toes
Guilt that nudges me from the nap of dormancy
Never stop
Until I get to the point
Where I never rest
Until my good is improved
And my better finest it can be
